Synthetic diamonds have garnered a lot of attention in recent years. The demand for synthetic diamonds has increased by leaps and bounds due to several reasons. Also known as the diamond simulants, these diamonds are imitation of the of natural diamonds. Their physical properties are quite similar to actual diamonds nonetheless they have completely different chemical properties. The fact that artificial demands have features identical to actual diamonds and are available at relatively lower prices makes them quite popular amongst the customers.

Types of Synthetic Diamonds

There are primarily three kinds of synthetic diamonds the Cubic Zirconia and Moissanite diamonds. These compounds resemble the physical properties such as hardness, shape, luster and overall appearance. When pure carbon is subjected to high pressure and high temperature the and its vapor is crystallized, the artificial diamonds are formed. These artificial diamonds are prepared in lab and are available at a fraction of price of real diamonds. Lets have a look at some of the features of these artificial diamonds.

Cubic Zirconia

The cheapest artificial diamond in the market is a compound known as Cubic Zirconia. The skull melting method prepares the CZ compounds. The CZ diamonds are identical to the natural diamonds in almost all the aspects and have almost same level of brilliance. However, they are comparatively less durable than actual diamonds and are rated below the actual diamonds on Mohs hardness scale. Also, the CZ compounds have a lower refractive index than the natural diamonds.

Moissanite has proved to be a viable substitute for diamonds as they resemble the precious gemstones most closely. The moissanite has a different faceting pattern and has a heightened brilliance compared to the natural diamonds. Usually, these gemstones are colourless but they project yellow light in certain conditions. The moissanite is available at a very low price as compared to the natural diamonds. A closer examination of the chemical properties of moissanite clearly distinguishes it from the natural diamonds.

White Sapphires

The lab created white sapphires have also emerged as a viable substitute for the natural diamonds. The white sapphires are made by the flame fusion method and have physical and chemical properties to that of natural diamonds. Moreover, they are more durable and than the cubic zirconia compounds. At Multani Jewellers, you can find the best artificial diamonds as well. Several other artificial diamonds such as synthetic garnet, spinel and rutile are available at the outlet at unbelievably low.
